We spent the day at Disney’s Contemporary Resort and explored the main areas of this Walt Disney World Deluxe Resort Hotel! We also ate at the California Grill Lounge and watched the Electrical Water Pageant and the Happily Ever After firework show from the terrace of the resort’s fifteenth floor. It was a fantastic day filled with wonderful food and an incredible view of the nightly Magic Kingdom fireworks show!

On this day in 1971, Walt Disney World officially opened its gates to guests for the very first time. The Resort’s first park – Magic Kingdom – also opened on that day and was the second Disney theme park to open in the United States after Disneyland in 1955. Eleven years later on October 1st in 1982, Epcot officially opened as the second park in Disney World and the third park in the United States.
Happy Birthday to Walt Disney World, Magic Kingdom, and Epcot!
